Tournament Format:
*All teams will begin in a two game round-robin format followed by seeding into
Double Elimination brackets.
*Seeding is based on the teams' win - loss record from round-robin.
*All round-robin games will start with a 1 ball and 1 strike count.
*Double-elimination games will start with 1 ball and 1 strike.
*No new inning will start after 50 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first, for all
games except the Championship Game.
*Championship Game will be limited to no new inning after 60 minutes or 7 innings,
whichever comes first.
Tournament Rules:
ASA rules apply unless otherwise stated below.
1) Game time is forfeit time.
2) You need 9 players to start and finish. ASA Short Handed rule applies.
3) You can bat up to as many as 12 players (using 2 extra hitters)
4) Each player must wear like-color jerseys bearing a 6" or larger number
5) Visible jewelry (watches, bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, lip rings,
nose rings) may NOT be visible during games. They must be removed or covered with
tape. Pagers, keys, bandanas and sunglasses on top of hats may NOT be worn during games.
6) Home and visitor status has been predetermined for round-robin games. No infield
practice after the first inning. Pitchers get three pitches the first inning and one
each inning thereafter.
7) ASA run rule - 20 after 3 ½ or 4 completed innings and 12 after 4 ½ or 5 completed
innings will be in effect for all games.
8) Round robin games can end in a tie.
9) Seeding for double elimination play will be based on the following in the order presented:
a) won/loss/tie record in the following order:
2-0-0; 1-0-1; 1-1-0; 0-0-2; 0-1-1; 0-2-0
b) run differential
c) runs allowed (lowest number prevails)
d) highest runs scored in any one game
e) coin toss
10) International tie-breaker rule for extra inning elimination games or after time has
expired, includes championship or "if games.
11) Seedings will be posted within 30 minutes after the completion of the last round-robin
game with double elimination games beginning promptly after postings.
12) Sportsmanship: Any player ejected from a game due to unsportsmanlike conduct will not
be eligible for their next game. Any excessive unsportsmanlike conduct could result in a
player being eliminated from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament field
representative(s)
13) No Alcohol is allowed at Kit Carson Park.
14) Bats: ASA approved bats only. All Bats to be used during the tournament must be
presented to the UIC for inspection prior to play.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY ILLEGAL BATS, THE BATS WILL BE CONFISCATED AND HELD BY THE FIELD
REPRESENTATIVES UNTIL THE END OF THE TOURNAMENT OR TEAM HAS BEEN ELIMINATED.

15) Any player using an illegal bat will be disqualified from the current game. A second
offense will result in disqualification from the tournament.
16) Home Run Rules Per Division:
One homerun allowed per game. This homerun limitation is based on a hit ball clearing a
275 feet or more fence. There are no limitations on inside-the-park homeruns.
17) Protests:
Protests will be accepted for player ratings and eligibility. The manager or coach must notify the
umpire of the game in which the protest is being made of the player(s) being protested and the
question(s) being challenged. A protest fee of $100 plus $25.00 per question for each beyond the
first question. The protest fee must be given to the Softball Sports Director at the time the
protest is filed. Protest will not be heard without payment of protest fee.
Only cash will be accepted. NO checks will be accepted. Following the game, the manager/coach
should submit a formal protest in writing to the Softball Sports Director.
The protest will be heard by the Softball Sports Director, the Field Director and UIC. Both the
team filing the protest and the team being protested will be given the opportunity to address
the protest. The Softball Sports Director, the Field Director and UIC with the input from the
umpire for game in question will make final decision.
All monies will be returned in full if the protest is upheld. However, if the protest is not
upheld, all monies will be kept by the Summer Sports Classic
Prizes:
There will be individual player prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
